Bridey - It really is. After this came out of the oven, I was comparing it to a bag of sliced supermarket bread, and I could only think, That is SO not real bread.
Beth - Ah, if only. I did everything else, but I've given up on the kneading. My mother seems to have a touch that I lack.
Y - That is what I always think! Baking, especially bread, really is magic. Mix a bunch of things together, heat it up, and voila, something tasty and fluffy. I can't imagine how people discovered the process and ingredients.
