how sun-colored poppies
grow in the arms of the streetcar tracks:
thick and heedless
seeing a man button a statue into a dress,
carry her over his shoulder into a hip-deep fountain and
leave her standing peacefully there
(in this square of murky green water)
in the middle of the financial district,
one hand steadying the bowl on her head.
Oh so pretty. I love the images in this.
ReplyDelete"in the arms of the streetcar tracks" - nice.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like how you get us to wonder, too.
That creates some very interesting, beautiful, and peculiar images in my mind... :)

ReplyDeleteThis is so interesting. Is it a true story?
ReplyDeleteThank you, all, very much.
ReplyDeleteSherry and Danielle - Excellent. That is just what I would like it to do.
