Worries

The first question I sent to two friends last night; the second to Twitter. I will submit them now to you.

What do you do when you are troubled by worries?

What do you do when you cannot sleep?

  3. I write when I'm worried, or if that doesn't help, read for escape.

When I can't sleep (which is often, but not as bad as it used to be), I try to concentrate on deep breathing. It's the only thing that's ever worked at getting me to sleep when I'm having trouble doing so, but I really have to concentrate and it's hard not to get distracted! But when I concentrate, it works like a charm...

  5. when i'm worried i call my best friend and go through the list of all the things i'm afraid of. not someone to comfort me or say shallow things about how it doesn't matter, just someone who lets me be afraid but not alone for a while, which makes being alone and not afraid easier.

and when i can't sleep, i type because i find it soothing. nonsense words, or typing up poetry on my typewriter, doesn't matter what. i also have a mix of music my dad put on a cd for my sister and i when we were little and starting to sleep in our own rooms to help us sleep, paul simon and david wilcox and enya and such.

  6. i also meditate, but i only recently started that and while it calms me, it doesn't make me sleepy, for some reason.

  7. I cry until I am so exhausted that sleep overtakes me even when I don't want it to
