My second full-time job, and the first one at a desk. Data entry. It should last for a week or two more.
It made my back ache quite badly at first, but then I realized I just needed to lower my chair. It has made me screamingly bored on some days, but I've learned how to mark the passing of time with a fresh mug of tea twice a day, a new podcast or some music to listen to on the half hour. Those things make a big difference.
The people are kind, and the pay is very good.
And soon, soon, I will fly away. I will return before autumn, though, for two joyous occasions: a wedding and a birth.

ReplyDeleteI have been to Ireland! I lived there for a year, in Cork and Galway. I am equal parts excited and jealous that you're going.
1. Hmm, you know, I think I've never listened to a podcast! That's no good! Although I did once have a fantasy about trying to get a weekly or bi-weekly feminist discussion group together (via skype conference calls), with women from all around the world, to discuss important topics, and I had a fantasy of turning those into podcasts, because the pickings on itunes are slim! But to my chagrin, I couldn't even get my friends interested! But now for something useful. I love listening to these when I'm home pottering around: http://www.feminisms.org/archives/

I love Librivox--I used to listen to books from there at my least favorite job ever, and it made it bearable. I remember listening to Dracula and Walden, though their selection is ginormous.
