What prompted you to start blogging, and when did you make your first post?
Your answer can be as short (or long) as the back story of your blog is. And just for fun, include a link to your first post as well.
The first time around, the fall of my freshman year of high school, I started blogging because one of my best friends from middle school who was going to a different high school was keeping a blog. I enjoyed reading hers, and our respective blogs were a nice way to stay in touch. And you understand the appeal of having a space on the internets to fling out the ideas and the details of your life, once you come across the notion.
When I took up my blog again last October, it was due once more to the inspiration of friends who blogged - this time around, the wonderful bloggers from LRRH.
My very first post - full of whingy freshman-ness, haha. Actually, a lot of my posts back then were about ballet, as I was getting into serious bunheadedness at the time...I ought to read through them again myself.
My very, very first blog (which was two posts long?) was for a school assignment for debate, senior year of high school.
ReplyDeleteI really like writing, and blogging fits me. So I signed up. First blog=not successful. Then Little Red came along, and I found people who would actually read my blog, and I started my current blog.

I started blogging in August of 2007, about a month or two after I joined LRRH, and I think it was because it seemed like a lot of you guys had them and one day I was just like, "Sure, why not?" and voila! Blog.

I started because I wanted to do a blog where I'd make a short story out of the dictionary.com word of the day. Yeah, that lasted all of a month.

Let's see...I was in AP Lang. One of the BPF-ers (whatever a BPF is, I don't really know) asked if anyone else blogged. So people started blogging . I started blogging too. Since I like thought it looked cool. And I follow the crowd. Even though I had nothing to say and like no one reading it.

My first post is no longer on the internet. I deleted that very first blog (that went through many name/URL changes).
Do other first posts count? I have a first post on WordPress (and another too, from when I switched to Blogger) and then another first post (from when I switched to Wordpress) and then my first post on my current blog.

Well, there once was an author called Shannon Hale who was very cool. Not only did she write wonderful books, she also wrote an interesting and amusing blog. Through her website, I found a lovely forum called Little Red Reading Hood where people exactly like myself exchanged ideas. The rest, as they say, was history.

I think I started in November of 2007 because my dad had set up a family website for us to post on that I hated, so I think one day I just got fed up with it and made a blog that was actually somewhat interesting. But every time I click on the link to it it won't let me see the first post, anyways it just said that I got a new blog, blah blah blah, gotta go.

I started blogging... I don't even remember why. Honestly, I think it's because I had friends who were leaving for colleges and new jobs and stuff. I posted two posts, stopped for about 4 months maybe cause I didn't see the point. Then, I started reading one of my friends blogs. And I joined Goodreads. That was essential to my blogging journey. The rest, is history. (it's been like, a year now though!) My first post was about Uggs and is ultra lame. I'm going to go delete it now :P
ReplyDeleteErm, I think I started blogging because I'd read Miss Erin's blog for about a year and decided I wanted an outlet for all my thoughts about reading, writing, and my life in general. ReplyDeleteI thought I'd replied to this one, but it doesn't seem to be here. I started a livejournal back in 2003, mostly so that I could read other peoples' who had theirs marked friends only, but I became hooked on writing in it. My blog is very new, but I started it to give me a reason to write, so that I don't neglect my creative side whilst studying and working, and to help me remain positive and happy when devoting so much of my life to things I "have" to do.
ReplyDeletei started blogging as a way of letting go, of setting my words free. prior to that, i've never shown my writing to anyone, maybe some to my closest friends. later on, blogging became a way for me to keep in touch with my family and my friends because we all live so far away from each other.
